  Dr. Ko-Cheng Fang is a founder of LongServing Technology, and he is an artist and a scientist. He is also the inventor of first man-made synthetic icy jadeite in the world.     Four of the five most famous gemstones in the world have already been synthesized, but it can not be synthesized the jadeite which Chinese people love mostly. Because of this, I have began to develop gem-grade man-made synthetic jadeite many years ago. In 2011, the developed man-made synthetic jadeite has successfully detected the composition of pyroxene by Central Geological Survey of the Ministry of economy! However, in order to avoid affecting the livelihood of miners in Myanmar and both the rights and interests of natural jadeite collectors, I didn’t put into production of the man-made synthetic jadeite immediately.

  In 2021, the Myanmar government announced that the mining of natural jadeite ore was completely stopped. From the market point of view, this is the best time to introduce the  man-made synthetic jadeite, which will bring another investment opportunity to the jadeite market. According to the online transaction amount of jadeite trading market in 2020, it is nearly RMB 230 billion, that is, about NT $1 trillion. Although there are many jadeite mines, most of the jadeite varieties traded in the market are dry goods, peas species and green-flower species. Therefore, I used a “mixture” to deliberately retain the unique glistening effect of jadeite, the cotton -fiber crystal structure of pyroxene jade can be displayed under the sunshiny. It sacrifices its specific gravity and part of the refractive index but retains the hardness of gem-level 6 to 7 for easy cutting and grinding! Coupled with the perfect full chromium color, this man-made synthetic jadeite has “the beauty of a imperial jade, the seductive brilliance of an emerald, and the glistening effect of a natural jadeite”. Chelsea filter detection

 

   The Chelsea filter uses the absorption of specific wavelengths according to the spectrum principle to distinguish the type of gemstones, and can also test whether certain gemstones have been processed optimally. The Chelsea filter consists of two color filters that only allow transmission of red frequency and green frequency light. It is very effective for identifying dyed jadeite, dyed gemstones and artificial gemstones.

 

   For example, jadeite dyed with artificial chromium salts turns red under the Chelsea filter, while natural jadeite usually does not change color, indicating non-dyed jadeite. Our man-made synthetic jadeite does not change color when tested with a Chelsea filter, proving that the quality of our synthesis jadeite is undyed and just like natural jade.

 

UV light detection

 

This UV light identification method is widely used in jade testing. UV light is used to identify the authenticity of jade based on the fluorescence characteristics emitted from jade under long-wavelength 365nm or short-wavelength 253.7nm UV light irradiation. Inferior jade that has been under the acid treatment and filled with the polymer resin will show a fluorescent reaction under UV light irradiation. Natural jadeite generally does not emit fluorescence under UV light because it does not contain polymer resin and wax. Our man-made synthetic jadeite crystallized under simulating natural conditions and has no fluorescent reaction when exposed to ultraviolet light, proving that our products have no polymer resin added.
